The first six verses in Proverbs 24, offer three guides for how to choose your business companions carefully.
In business sales we learn to qualify our leads. That is, we eliminate prospects who are not suitable for our product or service. The first guide is just like that; eliminate wicked people who talk of violence from your business companions. You don’t want them in your business world. They will only take you down with them when they fall, or are caught by authorities.
Secondly, it is through wisdom and knowledge that your business will grow. So gravitate towards those who will help you learn the good and right way of doing business. Find and choose business companions carefully who will mentor you in the right way of doing things. Those are the people who, by their influence, will help you build up your business, and teach you special ways and techniques to do your work with excellence. That will result in your prosperity.
Thirdly, a wise person has great power. You become stronger as your knowledge increases. The way to do this is to seek out good advice from other trusted wise and spiritually established mentors and advisors. If you really want to succeed and prosper in your business, get advice whenever you have to make big decisions. For that matter, even in some of the smaller ones, because they are often the most crucial ones. Your whole business can crumble away on you because of one small foolish decision, that you didn’t recognize for it’s hidden features.
Study these guides in Proverbs 24:1-6 (NIV)
Do not envy wicked men,
do not desire their company,
for their hearts plot violence,
and their lips talk about making trouble.
By wisdom a house is built,
and through understanding it is established;
through knowledge its rooms are filled
with rare and beautiful treasures.
A wise man has great power,
and a man of knowledge increases strength;
for waging war you need guidance
and for victory many advisors.
Watch for a Biblical guide on how to discern the best kind of advisor to follow. Not every one who offers to be our mentor or life coach is truly good for us.
