Sometimes the only way to learn to swim is to get into the water.
Reading arm armload of manuals isn’t going to REALLY teach you.
If you are going to learn to play the piano, you’ll have to put your
fingers on the piano keys one of these days! The sooner the better.
If you are going to learn to blog, you have to install one, (or sign up
on a free blog site). . . .
I’ve been researching this new ‘rage’ for a few weeks, and tonight I
decided to take the plunge.
My web host, Hosting Revolution, offers no less than four blog
scripts, ready to install with a click and the filling in of a few bits of
information. Such as what I want to call the new directory that will
be created, and my user name, and password, email, and so forth.
Another couple of clicks, and it’s there. Hit the administration link,
and go do it!
I chose WordPress, although I saw and read about some of the
others that they had users who loved them, this one had won an
award recently, and I’d seen rave reviews in other places before.
Sure enough! It’s quite simple. Of course, I haven’t tried out
everything yet.
It appears I can allow people to sign up as members and to have
spaces of their own to enter blogs. Comments to my blogs are
encouraged, so this will give YOU a chance to give me some
immediate feedback and interaction.
I read earlier this week, that people who have a blog (and this one is
also an RSS feed), and list it in a few key places, will soon find the
Search Engines fawning over them.
Suddenly I feel nervous as a bride or a hostess; will people like me?
Oh-no! I have to clean up around here if I’m going to really get
visitors!
For the present, my plan is to proceed much the way I did with my
older ezine format (longer, confidential chat with you), and I will post
it as a blog in my new WordPress on my BouquetofEnterprises site,
but continue also to post it in my DADA Mail script as an ezine.
Mainly because I am aware of at least one subscriber who is not able
to get online for more than brief minutes at a time. She would prefer
to get this by email. No doubt there are others.
However, for those who find it frustrating to see ezines disappear
into the black holes of all those filters, as soon as I can tell you how,
I’ll explain how you can down load an RSS feed browser, and then
enter my blog’s address as a bookmark in it. Whenever another issue
should be due, just click on that link to see if there are any notices
from my blog that the next issue of Encouragement & Action is
ready. Click on title and presto - there you are! At my blog!
It may not be long before I add some other blogs, as it is so easy.
It’s too late now, to start it, but watch for some info about how to
determine which online business is best for you! (Two of my newest
friends are waiting for this info).
